Day 2 What colours to use?

It has finally stopped raining and the sun is out,
I think i have decided on a colour scheme for this project
its the impressionism palette out of illustrator

I think it covers most of the spectrum I'm after, although it is desaurated
it's the look i'm going for, the only saturated elements in the scene will be neon lights, bill boards. etc

Day 1, Why? Just something to do I guess

What is Retro Tomorrow?
For me retro-tomorrow is the design of what the future would look like having been designed between 1930 and 1960, this is the golden age where for most people by now we should all be flying our cars to work, elevated walkways would get us around the streets at the 2nd story, food would be available in pills, and everything was desaturated.

There's something that has always got my attention regarding the vintage futurism pictures I occasionally see around the place.
Artists like Syd Mead (http://www.sydmead.com/v/10/home/) place immaculate detail (that was actually there for a reason)where other artist would pass this by.

The one site that really got my juices flowing is this one
http://thrilling-tales.webomator.com/about.shtml
It's an online comic which is interactive (well the 1st issue anyway).

So what do I want to do; Well I don't know really, I want to create a world in the not to distant future that is a cross between Blade Runner, Brazil, The fifth Element with a small amount of steam punk thrown in.
I may well be too far ahead of my self but.....meh, I'll give it a go anyway.

I guess I should tell you how I will put all this together.

1. steal all the information I can from the internet
2. maybe even visit a library
3. design in Adobe illustrator
4. build and texture model in 3DS max / blender (it's free)
5. composite it all together in a little program called nuke

So a big thanks to these 2 guys from me and we will see how it all goes from here.
Stay Tuned.
